Facts About Oil Recycling

What we do with used oil plays an important role in balancing our needs for convenient transportation with our need to maintain a clean environment. You can make a difference today by recycling your used motor oil!

Did you know used oil can be recycled!?

  • Used oil has value even after it has been drained from an engine.

  • Oil does not wear out, it simply becomes dirty as it does its job. Once water and contaminants are removed from collected used oil, it is returned to a full and useful life.

  • Used motor oil can be made into more oil that is just as good, if not better, than virgin oil.

  • Recycling and re-refining oil helps saves energy. When you bring your used oil from your car, truck, motorcycle, boat, or lawnmower to a collection center, less energy is required to produce a gallon of re-refined base stock than a base stock from crude oil.

What can be made with re-refined oil?

  • More motor oil

  • Fuel for heating furnaces or used in power plants.

  •  Electricity for homes, schools, and businesses.
