Prop 39 mc3 program
Urban Corps recently completed a 3 year Proposition 39 funded program providing MC3 training and certifications to Urban Corps students interested in Construction union jobs and apprenticeship programs.
108 students were successful in completing the program and attaining their MC3 certification.
Our program is one-of-a-kind because of the work-learn aspect of Urban Corps. Our MC3 program was established out of a desire to give our participants additional opportunities to be successful after graduation. We recognized the need for skilled laborers in the field and it was a direct line to our program. Students are not just receiving a high school diploma, paid work experience and supportive services but the extra certifications and training through MC3 that put them ahead of other applications. The only participants in the MC3 program are participants in our work-learn program. The MC3 students, while in the program, were paid stipends, through the grant, which allowed them to continue to support their families while learning an important skill.
