Urban Corps' Community Improvement Services
(CIS) Department contracted with San Diego’s Business Improvement
District’s (BID’s) to conduct services in the College Area,
City Heights, National City, Promote La Jolla,
the Naval Training Center and North Park.
BIDs programs fit into three general
categories: clean, safe, and attractive
and respond directly to local needs.
BIDs offer sidewalk cleaning, graffiti
removal, and landscape maintenance services. Sidewalk cleaning includes
mechanical and manual sweeping as well as high-pressured washing;
graffiti removal includes high-pressure washing, painting, and scraping
activities to remove or cover tags, stickers, and bubble gum from
buildings, signage, and telephone poles; landscape maintenance involves
trimming, pruning, watering, and installation of plants and trees
in public spaces. Urban Corps also provides irrigation repair and
troubleshooting, banner hanging, and removal of illegal dump sites.
